Letter #2: From Gerrick to Elenwen

18th of Last Seed, 4E 201

To the Esteemed Elenwen, First Emissary of the Thalmor:

I sincerely regret to report that our operation to execute Kethrina in Helgen with the Stormcloaks failed, and that Kethrina is certainly alive. However, we encountered what may have been the ultimate unforeseen circumstance. Who could have possibly predicted the appearance of a dragon?

The dragon, which you no doubt witnessed yourself, wrecked the entire village. The situation turned into complete havoc. The Justiciars we had standing by in case the Imperials somehow failed were killed by the dragon. In the confusion, Kethrina escaped, along with Ulfric Stormcloak and a number of his rebels. We are not certain of the exact number of escapees, as many of the corpses are burnt beyond any kind of identification.

I haven’t heard anything about your condition. I pray you escaped without injury.

I managed to follow Kethrina to Riverwood where she stayed for a few hours. After which she went to a number of caves, camps, and ruins. Although I could not follow her inside these places, what I did see indicates she is reverting to her adventurer and mercenary roots, killing the bandits and other vermin infesting these places, then looting the corpses for supplies and coin.

As indicated by the journal entry I delivered previously, Kethrina is avoiding the large towns and cities. As she herself suggested, it will be more difficult to find her. However, it will also mean more opportunities to send our enforcers to kill her without being seen.

On a side note, “amonta de' toya” appears to come from a Maormer dialect (it’s a curse meaning “god damn it”). It appears Kethrina spent some time in Pyandonea, which would explain why we lost track of her about a decade ago. However, how she managed to get there has yet to be discovered.

It also appears that Kethrina is still making use of that illusion spell and associated device that she stole from us to capture images and imprint them onto paper.

Sincerely Yours,

Gerrick

For the glory of the Aldmeri Dominion!
